Battle system becomes Pokken's, but with teams obviously, type advantages, modifiable movesets, basically all or most of the stuff that exists in the current battle system except it has the gameplay of Pokken.
I would do the game's theme completely ethereal, maybe not even set in country inspired locations anymore but in fictional planets like the Ultraworlds. You can travel through the Ultraworlds, maybe with a spaceship. Ratchet and Clank kinda thing.
The human character can roll like in Legends and can now jump and climb on edges, but the jumping will still be pretty irrelevant because it's still mons that should do the most work
Very important one, the mons are NOT caught anymore, the story revolves also around this, if it wasn't treated already, and the player just can befriend mons and they willingly follow
Theme generally ethereal as I said and dark. Should be mildly difficult, I'd say the difficulty single player Pokken already has, but it should be really hard with bosses, scaling through with minor bosses being less hard than major ones.
It should be a complete adventure from start to finish. No gym badges and league rethorics. Every moment of the game is to deal with a danger and with a situation rather than said core of the story being only an inconvenience treated mostly during the 8th gym. You have to travel the world and do vital things, and you shouldnt be really able to go back during the story or have much freedom. The world should be dark, badass and dangerous, similar to Uncharted.
Maaaany innovations, gimmicks, side quests, side games, unexpected things and cure to detail ,more than ever, similarly to how's been from gen 6 onward
