From your perspective, yeah, but in-world it's a huge fucking deal that the player character becomes the champion. Only a small handful of people are skilled enough to actually work their way up to being a champion, and even less than that are children.
Besides the player character, pic related are the only known Champions because it's an incredibly difficult feat lore-wise.
