There's way too much misinformation that still persists from before SM even released because we were so eager to get out of Gen 6. Anyone who was there to witness Lurantis leaks knows just how badly SM butchered things so get us acquainted with this complacency. Gen 6 should have been a foundational reset for the series, and yet it was scrapped for an objectively worse formula just because the series felt threatened by a fad competitor.
Yokai Watch isn't even relevant anymore, there's no reason the SM formula should still be used. Of course, that formula clearly isn't the reason when LGPE ends up being closer to the older games and is still a piece of steaming hot garbage.
