Not to mention that Drayano has already edited evolutions - not just trade evolutions but also level evolutions like Larvesta. I don't think letting Mantyke evolve is a big stretch because it's borderline impossible to get Mantine with strict rules. The best way is actually finding it in the wild, and you have one chance on dark water on Route 17 and that's still a 10% chance. The chance of finding a Mantyke and a Remoraid is under 1% and you have to sacrifice a Route 3 catch.

>>38005048I already used it at the beginning of the game. One thing about Unova is that you have very limited early-game catches and Route 3 has a lot of great potential catches. Even if I had known it's literally the only place to get Remoraid it's an incredibly poor gamble. The only safe way to make that bet would be if you needed a water type anyways and could settle for Poliwag but then you're banking on finding a Mantyke too which is also a measly 10% chance in two spots (not to mention you're already doubling on waters) that you won't attempt until five badges later. Even if I knew this at the time I already had two waters at that point and putting all my bets into something that has less than 1% chance of happening and sacrificing many good Route 3 catches is stupid.
tl;dr The chance of getting a legit Mantine in a BB/VW nuzlocke is microscopic and since Drayano already messed with official evolutions and one of the highlights of his hacks is diverse catches I should be allowed to cheese Mantyke's evolution.
