There's not even an "E for Everyone" on it like the games, where at least you can argue that the gameplay is satisfying for players of any age or skill level, or that players can modify their experience however they want with various challenges to make the game more engaging. The ONLY reason the anime exists is so that overtired parents can slap their stupid 7 year old child in front of the TV and make them shut up for 30 minutes at a time, while the anime pumps product placement into the kid's head and then the kid makes mommy go out and buy Ash Greninja action figures at Wal-Mart. This is NOT a product that any grown adult with a functioning brain should find any intellectual value in. Of course the writing, characters, plots, animation, etc. is all terrible, the producers of the show have no incentive to care or do better. Of course the character that millions of neckbeards worship for being Ash's most viable love interest is the most blandly written waifu that does nothing of importance and displays only the most rudimentary forms of attraction. Of course no meaningful developments ever happen, or those that do take hundreds of episodes to occur. Of course every episode or arc quickly settles back into the safe, stale, sterile status quo. Of course they repeat running gags and recycle canned animation ad infinitum. Because the show is designed with longevity in mind first and foremost. Its primary goal is to just exist forever and ever for the sole purpose of ADVERTISEMENT. Anyone over the age of 12 who actually watches hundreds and hundreds of episodes of the Pokemon anime expecting a quality product is mentally ill.
