Researchers believe that in the ancient past Persian must have been a Psychic type Pokemon. Evidence for this is the gem in Persian's forehead and its Hyponsis ability. It is unknown why Persian's psychic abilities have nearly all but disappeared. One theory is that this is a lack of effort on Persian's part and that in the far future it will have a roughly similar temperament and abilities as that of Slaking.
