When I watched it as a kid in 1998 had always hoped that one day Ash would once again meet bulbasaur, pidgeot, squirtle and have them fully evolve.
I had always hoped pokemon like cyndaquil would fully evolve.
They never give any series a popular ending... They force him to lose his old pokemon so they can start a new hastily created new series.
