>>48762659>The storyAll of the story is shoved into 4 cutscenes of exposition
>The gym leadersNone of the gym leaders were memorable, because their teams and their gyms lacked personality, strategy, challenge, or the trainers themselves had 0 impact to the story or world around them. Most of the trainers don't even have NPCs reference them, coming off BW/2 where every single GL and e4 were oozing with personality and world impact? It sucked. Also about half the gyms had the exact same "Climb the tower" gimmick because of the 3D emphasis
>The RegionIt feels empty at times, though it is genuinely pretty in places, however Towns/Cities feel dead and homogenous, nearly all of them have a cafe, they don't have a strong sense of identity. Incidentally, the region itself lacks personality and identity because of
>The PokedexThere are less than 80 new pokemon in XY, I think the actual number sans the megas and legendaries is 69? Alola and Galar were also sorely lacking but the regional forms made up for it slightly by adding new flavors to old stuff. XY has a instead a MASSIVE 400+ catchable pokemon, meaning you can go the entire game without using a single XY addition, this is a plus for those of us who think the dex itself was underwhelming to say the least, but still a point against it as much of the region loses itself to these old favorites.
>The soundtrackIt was no BW/2 for soundtrack, and the electric guitars were kinda meh but it wasn't Hoenntrumpets. Arguably a strong 2nd or 3rd best regional sound track.
>The VillainsTeam Flare were literally genocide focused billionaire Nazis with the entire region in their grip and felt weaker and more buffoonish than Peta, the Water hillbillies and a fucking space cult. Only Team Skull/Yell felt like more of a joke and they are literally a joke.
>The rivalsCalem and Serena have almost no personality, especially coming off Gen 4 & 5
Tierno, Trevor & girl are a joke
Should I keep going cause I have more
