The fact is that spoofing is a time saver. We have jobs, we have friends and real hobbies. I don't want to drive out to a local team stronghold every time it gets taken down just for 10 coins. The interest just isn't there, because there's no more content left unexplored. There's no more sense of wonder.
Any interaction with the game that doesn't come from walking isn't in the "spirit" of the game anyway. If you drive to catch or gym you are little better than a spoofer, and much more misguided.
You've taken this impression that you're surrounded by NEET slobs with nothing better to do. In reality, the situation is the exact opposite.
