I could see my trainer as starting off young, full of energy and with so many things they want to accomplish before finally settling down and relaxing somewhere in the Pokemon world. He'd probably take up breeding to pass the time and just appreciate what's going on.
I also bet he'd be the guy that looks after the young trainers in the area and gives them pointers on how to catch tough Pokemon. I can't imagine that being a job only old men do.
