>>21153494i was 6, close to 7, when the pokemon craze hit america.
i had always taken and interest in video games as a kid, but i did not own a gameboy, snes, N64, or any other gaming device and my parents wouldnt let me.
So during recess i would always watch in awe and a bit of jealousy as other kids played their gameboys. The latest mario, tetris, ect...
At that point i hadnt heard much about pokemon in the way of the games, but started to become well aware of the TCG which ran rampant through most schools around that time.
So i hopped on that bandwagon quite quickly and began my collection. I started watching the show and it instantly became the center of my life. Still get good nostalgic feels thinking back to the days of watching Ash take on the next gym, or when one of his pokemon evolved, shit was big to us back then.
But i was still ignorant to the actual video game.
As time went by i still continued to watch the show, collect cards and hype about pokemon with my friends.
But Christmas that year brought me a surprise in the form of my first gameboy and the newest pokemon game, gold version which i still have today (pic related)
And from there it's pretty much always been a part of my life, most of the friends i know today are because we connected over pokemon in elementary or middle school. and even still today a lot of us play. In fact back on the 13th when X&Y came out, we all managed to get that day off so we could all go get the game and play it together. that was a good day
So yeah pokemon has been a pretty big part of my life.
