>>37549501It's very interesting to me that when Game Freak talks about Gen 1 design philosophies, they always focus on the very simple designs. Things like Magnemite and Ditto. This what they associate as being primarily a gen 1 thing.
All while western genwunners associate gen 1 with the detailed beasts and kaijus like Arcanine and Nidoking.
It's particulalry interesting that Masuda refers to modern designs as being less basic than the older ones, despite all those comparisons that get spammed here about how modern pokemon are MORE basic than their predecessors.
