Everyone in my street had Pokemon cards we would trade (but never battle with), the anime was great, the games were great at the time, though admittedly I find going back to gen 1 now very difficult, and yes I have played them recently, I'm saying this from literal experience, I nuzlocked red, blue AND yellow within the past 2 months and it was pretty dull. Still love the kanto Pokemon themselves though regardless of people crying about them getting the most attention.
>Gen 2Enjoyed the gen 2 games quite a bit, I remember when the first gen 2 Pokemon I and many others saw was Donphan in the Mewtwo movie which was hype as fuck. Still love a lot of gen 2 Pokemon to this day.
>Gen 3Not as into Hoenn. I think the region itself is actually very good, I dislike Team Aqua/Magma though. I can't actually pinpoint my main beef with this game though, it just felt a little dull compared to the previous 2 gens.
>Gen 4Another good gen, Sinnoh as a region is alright but I enjoyed many shitmons getting evos to make them more relevant, I don't like all of them aesthetically but there are some gems in there.
>Gen 5Hated it when it first came out, hate it even more now. The Pokemon straight up look like shit aesthetically, despite having one of the largest amount of new Pokemon along with gen 1 it was wasted on shitty filler mons which will forever taint the series with only a handful of good designs from the bunch. Not into Unova as a region either, it felt linear while playing it and it is linear. Don't know why people are so into the bridges too, they're just linear corridors with nothing on them. I didn't like the retarded robotic animations either and still don't. Dropped playing them half way through too which has never happened with me in a Pokemon game ever.
