After my disappointment with Shield, I sat down to play Platinum for the first time since it released. And holy shit is the difference like night and day. After becoming so used to the 3ds era and SwSh being babby easy, I actually started getting caught off-guard and losing battles in Platinum. I actually had to use the town map to get an idea of where I was headed, since my only clues were what was said in a conversation, and up to me to figure out where to go next. I ended up doing some side quest things to gain levels, since at one point I became underleveled and couldn't progress. I found entire areas with new pokemon that I would have skipped past had I not ventured off the beaten path.
It really made me realized how far the series has fallen. It hurts realizing that GF might never go back to this level of quality and gameplay, most likely because of how much the mobile games fucked up what they think a Pokemon game should be.
