If Fairy Type was introduced in Gen 5, this Pokémon idea could have been massively different. It could have been a Poison/Fairy red and white fantasy fairytale mushroom
Also paras and parasect definitely are supposed to have the classic toadstools but in their case it's more "these are what cartoon mushrooms are supposed to look like" rather than actually being willfully based on amanita muscaria.
