Erika was arguably the toughest fight of the pre-E4. Jotun, Kaonashi, and Courier all played a part, but that was likely because I chose to lead with Vulpix lmao.
Koga and Blaine, much like my Blue (JPN) run, got absolutely destroyed by Sandslash. Gondoleer proved to a be the MVP of the run, but unlike my first, they did not take on Giovanni's gym.
Kaonashi's moveset allowed it to sweep through Sabrina; I'm not sure waiting until 41 or whatever for Fire Spin is really worth it. Schrodingy became a late clutch demon; having to wait until 51 for Slash is terrible, but permanently critting from then on is pretty tasty, and Bubble Beam + decent bulk/HP allowed them to tank Giovanni.
The rival battles were the most rhythmic of my runs so far; lead Raichu, switch once you make it to Growlithe over to Ninetales, Double Team, Flamethrower through. And finally, the E4 was pretty simple too:
>St. Elmo completely solo'd Lorelei.>Brohm solo'd Bruno.>Brohm and Gondoleer tag team'd Agatha, primarily to get Gondoleer to level.>St. Elmo gets destroyed by an unbeknownst Hyper Beam from Dragonair>Switch in Brohm and sweep up to Dragonite>Switch in Gondoleer after eating a Hyper Beam>Rock Slide chunk to the winWith that done, the Rival was the same routine scratch St. Elmo. To replace them, we went with Brohm's Blizzard+Psychic combo. And with that, I'm on leg7 of this Hatelocke, and my final step to leave Kanto for even a bit.
