It really just seems like GameFreak was rushed so hard that they didn't have time for much creativity. Which is probably why everything is pretty bad except for some points that have genuine shine to them. But nothing really as much as this. Were they expecting the Mega Latis to be the biggest surprise ever? Do kids even know what the Lati duo are? They know who Lucario is and what Mewtwo is, but they give them to a duo that's been pretty lowkey. Hell, I wonder if kids even know half the Pokemon selected for Megas. That's probably the biggest kick in the dick. Kids don't even know what half these Pokemon are because GameFreak has shoved out so much shit and never really paid more attention to older Pokemon.
