I don't know what kind of gameplay it would add since I'm not a game designer, but sitting around at home should be just as compelling as going out and adventuring. Make it so you can register your house as where you spend the majority of your time and add special features that you can only access when you are there. Be able to customize it at the very least
If you live in an apartment building or complex, maybe add a feature where everybody who lives in the building can share a Pokemon box or something for quick communal trading
