I fought the Ace Trainer on Route 3, I figured he'd be tough but...god damn. I had no real counter to his Slowpoke, it kept Yawning and putting my whole team to sleep. I was able to kill it eventually, but then he sent out a damn Butterfree.
I thought my team would be fine since normally Butterfree only knows Confusion at level 14 , but it caught me off guard and killed my Psyduck with a critical Silver Wind. I used Flabebe to stall out the remaining Silver Winds and killed it.
Then I fought the Kahuna. I led with Mankey because I figured the opening of the fight was the only time I'd get use out of her, but she got oneshot by his Machop's Revenge...another move that I figured the opponent wouldn't normally have.
I caught a Carbink and Rockruff later, but damn if I haven't been getting chewed out so far.
