In R/B all you needed to beat Brock was your starters stab move, even Ember would do. In Yellow Pikachu couldn't do shit so you had to try training other Pokemon up. One of these Pokemon was a Nidoran with Double Kick that could wreck his gym and any Normals and Rocks on the way to Mt. Moon. In Mt. Moon you can evolve this guy to it's final form meaning it wrecks shit even more. Not only that but it learns basically every good TM in the game so that's good too.
To this day it's still a pretty decent Pokemon.
