We haven't seen a single thing so far that justifies the cut, like fancy new graphics, gender differences for the whole dex, or new animations that aren't just bobbing up and down or shrouding the Pokemon in particle effects, etc.
Assuming there isn't some huge new hidden thing Gamefreak is hiding from us until the last second, we're paying twice as much for objectively less content.
