>>46517944One of the main things about Uranium and a lot of fan games that hit me like a fucking semi-truck is the use of fan-terminology in the dialog, taking Uranium, at the very start it discusses "Pokemon Elements" There are casual mentions of EV's, IV's drops of Nuzlocke and other in-jokes.
A core element to game design, even fan-game design is "Imagine if this is an original product, and you're going to put it out on the market as is, imagine you're trying to attract a real audience here." When you see dumb fan community bullshit, that would never be in a real game it screams unprofessional.
Then there's the sprite work, while it feels shitty to go after artists who are clearly trying their best, it's so clear they can't create cohesive aesthetics and refined designs.
Look at this sprite here, it's terrible, not talking even about the horrid clothing choices, but everything about it is flat and unexciting.
>>46517962This is another problem one. In an attempt to create a "gender neutral" player choice, what they actually created was something that looks like a lizard.
