Best best thing they can do is show Ash and Goh in the new AU and they're both low-tier trainers because of how braindead they are, re-establishing that being a good trainer is an actual accomplishment.
Not even the games have gotten this bad yet, and that says something considering how it somehow gets dumbed down each gen
