Where do you all get this idea that everything in Digimon is just some fake videogame world? I think only the first manga story ran with this idea but, eventually, the real world got involved too. Also even if the the monsters could only exist in the Digital World, that doesn't make the human protagonists less real. It's like not caring about the plot in TRON or that one episode about Porygon.
And anyhow, it's the weakest Digimon media that treats the Digital World as being literally the Internet (except for Tamers). Adventure (the original) made it explicit that it was a very real world that was influenced by ideas and emotions, which of course meant that information technologies made a big impact on it.
