Ash beats him and Kukui tells Ash that this was a test to see if he has what it takes to be the Alola Champion and offers him the position with the E4 being announced to be the Kahunas. Ash turns it down because he wants to win a League properly and still travel to get stronger. It'll be a repeat of the Battle Frontier where he was offered to become a Frontier Brain.
