>>39278790I got to Cerulean City and was feeling pretty good. I went into the gym and had a close call with the first trainer and decided I needed to level a bit. Route 4 didn't seem that good to train on so I figured I'd head to Bill's house.
HUGE mistake. I ran into Gary and I wasn't expecting him. Gary being the Rival he is made sure I wouldn't forget him and to always expect him. I beat him, but at great cost. I was leading with the pokemon I wanted to train, but Mankey's don't do well against Spearow's at all, especially one that's 3 levels higher. I swapped out for a Pikachu so that I could just zap his bird out of the sky... but before I could do that Spearow Fury attack'ed and hit Wejrat 4x in a row. From full to zero: Rip Pikachu. Noodle was at about 75% and Evee got a good crit in on that fight too.
I was sad, and angry at this point, because I was going to have to grind even more at this point to get ready, but only had my Rattata and a Sandshrew in my box. I went to go grind and let my Rattata try and stand up to a Mankey, but he low kicked the Rattata into a forest and I never saw him again
Nothing that interesting between this point and Bill. I got an Oddish and a Bellsprout, but I got the Oddish first and decided to level that up a bit. Misty fight was mostly easy, but I lost my Pidgey to a bubblebeam crit. I didn't like Pidgey and upgraded to Spearow: Thanks for the Fury Attack advice Gary.
