Luvdisc is mad because they made it really really light-washed on the shift to 3D.

I discovered Luvdisc when my first boyfriend ever gave me one in Pokémon Black.
I was a late bloomer and didn't begin dating until I was 20 or so. I was deeply in love and the I loved the gesture.
I did a solo run with that Luvdisc on Pokémon Black and cherished a lot. Even when things did not turn out well with this guy, I will always appreciate Luvdisc, and how it symbolises my first love. I identify a lot with its lore about romance. And I will always wait for another Luvdisc, even if I no longer play Pokémon games.

Eventually my liking for Luvdisc turned into fascination as its current circumstances. It is the second weakest fully-evolved Pokémon and a clear example of everything you should not do when designing a Pokémon. Had they made them the Old Rod encounter instead of Magikarp, it would have made sense.

Maybe so. But GF phasing out shitmons in the newer generations proves that they are a concept of the past. They just need to buff the ones they already have.

Yeah, except that you don't get items by knocking out enemies in this game. You get them by catching Pokémon. If this was the case, They would have just made Luvdisc a 255 catch rate Pokémon instead of 225 like an early route mon. If Luvdisc was the only thin you could catch with old rod, it would make sense. It would make ALL of the sense because you have a) a way to farm them. b) the only pokémon that comes from a crappy rod, telling you that they are NOT worth it as actual Pokémon c) If Heart scales were much more common (100%. No reason for anything less) which would communicate to the player that this IS the purpose of Luvdisc.
So no we ain't cool you shitmon defender. They had a concept in there, but never even bothered.
I will refuse to defend the concept of "shitmon" unless they do certain workarounds like what I suggested. The way they implemented things is WRONG and I know you know it to be so. We don't judge things for what "they wanted to do", we judge them for what they did. And what Gamefreak did here is SHIT.

No. What I meant is that, every time you enter an area where gendered Pokémon can be found, the game will choose one gender, and it will force all encounters to be of that particular gender until you leave the area or Luvdisc is not longer the first member of your party.
This will not apply to genderless Pokémon, or Pokémon with 0:100 ratios to either gender. Those will ignore it.

The 3d gif you posted is from the side of Luvdisc that's facing light. The reverse looks exactly like that art.

The 3d idle literally has it moving its mouth too. All Pokemon have additional idle animations that play if you let them idle for long enough, and Luvdisc's has it shaking more. You for some reason want it to do everything the gen 5 sprite did (which it had to in a single animation, as it had no other) in its basic idle, when being 3d means it can have multiple. That is in addition to being able to blink like a normal creature, and the other battle and amie animations it has.
