but--- depending on where you are/born you can only get certain Pokemon they are from the following places
USA/Canada: Unova/Sinnoh Pokemon
Whole Southern Hemisphere: Hoenn Pokemon
Europe: Kalos
Asian Countries: Kanto/Johto
You have access to every Pokemon from their respective game, but outside of this the only legal way to get other kinds of Pokemon is to catch them in their respective habitat
