"Competitive" in the context of Pokemon is just dedicated PvP play. If you don't enjoy PvP much then that's just it. It's an idiotic label that began use among people that wanted to reject Smogon for some nebulous reason. I was there when it all began. The shitposters, the Karen forums, all of it. It was awful and consisted as bad players that touted bad pokemon and bad sets as "overlooked" and "surprising". Giving Hydreigon Expert Belt to bluff a Choice item can be surprising and even game-winning. Making an Adamant Hydreigon with both physical and special moves and calling it "mixed" is fucking stupid.
