>>49472258Not that anon, but I have played Touhou Puppet Dance Performance (that's the standalone one, Touhou Puppet Play is commonly used to refer to all of the Touhoumon romhacks, if memory serves) and can confirm that it has that method. You earn PP (Puppet Points) from battle just like regular EXP, each puppet can have 999 at a time. It's used to raise your stats via EVs, learn new moves, and change your Ability. I really like this style, and wish the actual Pokemon games would incorporate it. But they won't.
While I'm on the topic, I also like how IVs work: They go from the perfect S rank to three ranks for each letter A-E (A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, etc.) for a total of 16 different variations for each stat. Like Pokemon, they're randomized upon capture... but you unlock the ability to reincarnate a puppet in postgame, which acts like pseudo-breeding. You take two Puppets you already have, and a third to reincarnate, and you can reroll your IVs. Using certain items in reincarnation can guarantee you get the Emblem (which is just like Natures except it's just the 10% increase to a stat, no decrease) you want, and if you do everything right, you basically have a 1-in-16 chance of getting a puppet with perfect IVs. The downside is it resets the puppet to Level 1, but that's not really a big deal at all, especially if you play with the newly released Extended fanmade mod that adds a way to easily grind up your team once you beat the Postgame Postgame Absolutely Final Boss For Realsies Guys Superboss. This is yet another thing I wish they'd add to modern Pokemon games. But they won't. Though I guess Bottle Caps aren't that bad of an alternative.
I'm aware I'm going off on a autistic tangent, so I'll wrap this up by simply saying I really like TPDP and if you're a 2hu fan of any capacity and like Pokemon-esque games I cannot recommend it enough.
