If your opponent outspeeds you then carbink is there to slow them down if they depend on EX pokemon to do damage. Carbink is a wall to buy time/turns while you get the bench ready.
The problem with carbink is if abilities are shut off or if they use non ex pokemon like NM then carbink is just a free prize.
Like if they play silent lab or wobbuffet.
Which is why I think robo subs could help since you dont give up a prize when they get KOed and you can discard them with ultra ball and get the pokemon you do need. BUT if they are in your hand during item lock then they are basically useless dead weight. Basically you are making a Dark Version of Donphan Deck where you can have a lot of switching between the bench.
