>>39879992Gen 5 but not because of the games themselves but how poorly they did, they were a slight departure for the series and signs of them trying to grow beyond a typical pokemon game but sold the worst and panned by most. After gen 5 failed to make a meaningful impact they changed their priorities for gen 6 which gave us a more polished looking game on the surface but one that was very shallow and filled with minor gimmicks that don't add much to the core pokemon experience and when these games not only did well commercially GF started their current cycle.
