I would love to see a B2W2-type sequel to Ruby/Sapphire rather than a straight remake like a lot of people are clamouring for. Navigating Hoenn feels like wandering the wilderness a bit more than the straight lines of BW and XY, but that frontier-ish feeling can definitely be exaggerated even more just by adding more stuff, and I don't see any reason not to other than preserving muh nostalgia
Expanding the mountain range around Mount Chimmney, the areas between Odale and Rustburo, Ever Grande and towns in general, and putting important stuff (towns, ruins, etc) on some of the empty islands would be a great start
