Why are Pokémon cards so low quality? They feel so flimsy and weak, like shit you could just print out yourself. The holofoil isn't as vivid as it could be. Hell, as much as I love the art it's usually pretty basic and doesn't seem as high effort as some other stuff I've seen.
I've been buying FE Cipher lately for example, and the difference in quality is staggering. The card itself feels far sturdier and more like an actual card than a slip of paper. Art is absolutely astounding most of the time, shit like Sugimori arts are rare and promo exclusive instead of being in so many sets (SM was Sugimori hell). The card design allows for so much of the art to show through even on Normals and High Normals like these (basically Uncommons). It feels nice that they aren't confined to some shitty box. Take a look at how Pokémon usually handles Full Arts
>>46469535Literally just a still character in a pose over a generic background for trainers, and we all know how awful full arts usually are. The Tag Team era was full of great full arts at least, but the latest set only has 4.
I do love the galaxy foils of older cards but overall Pokémon feels like trash quality. Either that or Cipher is just really good.
Are Japanese cards any better?
