>>38943349I really liked the concept of Megas, it was something new and exciting, and the mega designs were all pretty great (with only a few exceptions), as they either exaggerated a defining characteristic of the base pokemon (Slowbro, Alakazam, Camerupt, Blastoise) or gave an interesting new take on the base design (Swampert, Banette, Metagross, Garchomp).
Then they swapped them out for "do a move but with a 20 second animation" and now it's just "your pokemon but its big". If the leaks about Gigantamaxing are true it'll be interesting to see some of the changed designs, but it'll always feel inferior to Megas in my eyes.
