It means that pokemon can be more than JUST an RPG. We could get an action adventure game, a roguelike, a mascot platformer... there are so many possibilities for a franchise with nearly a thousand marketable creatures. Tweak the battle system all you want, but if they always stick to just RPGs and the occasional spinoff the series will always be victim of wasted potential.
