>>54322522It’s not just the power creep and bigger attack and HP numbers. It’s the fact that these supermegahypergxvxex keep getting bigger and bigger while regular NFE basic pokemon have been stuck at 60-70 HP for over a decade.
This has the effect of further centralizing the game around big basics and ex/gx/vx shit. And the regular pokemon that ARE viable usually do ridiculous amounts of damage because they have to be balanced against these 300hp goliaths. Evolving Pokemon are even MORE vulnerable than before, because just about anything can 1HKO their basic form for a single energy (something that just wasn’t possible during gen 3-4). 1HKOs are now the standard, whereas before you actually had to charge up your energy for several turns if you wanted a 1HKO attack.
>>54323042If anything ever since 2012 with mewtwo EX the game has just been getting more and more like gen 1 and that’s why it’s so fucking shit. Gen 3-4 was peak tcg, I didn’t play during gen 2 but post Sneasel ban it seems like it would’ve been fun too.
