I'm pretty sure that most of the old game freak staff is cringing at the work they are forced to do now. I bet that they miss working with pixel art and wish there was a way back to the old days... it's just that Pokemon as a business got way bigger than the creators and it acts almost autonomously, only programmed to do the same thing every three years and increasingly moreso. Soon the entire process of game development from pokemon designs to world map will be delegated to artificial intelligence. Game freak is at fault but they are also not, just following the bidding of a massive cash cow in a world that's run by money and its investors
