The point of self improvement is self improvement. You don't live for others, you live to better yourself and your life experiences. That may sound selfish, but you'd be in a better position to actually help anyone by being better.
There are many people in this world, all kinds. How can you say what will never be possible? Maybe you'll run into someone who's your lesser. They look up to you, and improve to meet your standards. Perhaps you meet someone for whom is your superior. You strive to reach them. The work is never done, and we are never perfect.
