>>25141968At least for the expansion stats, there aren't many puppets in the top 100 usage that are gimmicks, and even below that there's a ton of undiscovered gems and great puppets that nobody's bothered to play around with much. Pre-expansion, type/role synergy played a huge role in determining the meta (see Rotom-W for how important type synergy is in determining usefulness), but we're already starting to see a ton of diversification in the first few months (<10% usage for all but two puppets is HUGE) as people play around with the new options.
There are very few puppets that are unviable, and - though this is risky to say - few that are totally outclassed, either.
>>25141998Black Choker's less than reliable, though. Stealth Trap, Upbeat, burn/poison from stuff like the local Sludge Bomb equivalents, or ever-popular priority moves all make it irrelevant.
Spending a setup turn also makes her vulnerable against Total Solar Eclipse, which is becoming one of my favorite moves for its incredible ability to shit on almost every spread attacker in the game while also infuriating the opponent with confusion RNG.
None of this makes her bad or not worth using, but her predictability and reliance on Genbu is exploitable with sufficient mindgaming.
