As it stands capturing a Pokémon is kinda boring and is significantly more about luck than skill. You just throw balls until the RNG smiles upon you, and get a slight boost if you lower HP or put them to sleep etc.
In World of FF you can't even use the Imprism command until you create a prismtunity. This can be achieved in different ways, such as "reduce the target's HP" for the pleb stuff to things like "use a super effective move", heal the target by a large amount", "inflict a particular status ailment" or "leave as the last monster standing". Once you do you can try capturing, and you can also repeat these requirements to boost your chances and extend the length of the prismtunity.
Bringing that over to Pokémon, you can do a lot of the same scenarios, some new ones building on unique mechanics and maybe put in some that play to lore. For example, maybe Jigglypuff becomes catchable by using sound moves on it, or Abra needs to be trapped, or Groudon needs its weather nullified. As a consequence, the odds of capture would be increased by an order of magnitude probably.
