>>53110251I could see trainers of notably dangerous pokemon (Pseudo-leg, Mega-Evos, etc) becoming romantically involved with their partners, for a practical reason.
A violent beast is less likely to kill the one it loves (or at least, the one it gets sexual pleasure from).
>ConsentConsent is difficult. For something to consent, we should assume it has an intelligence equivalent to an adult human.
To do that we must first determine a Pokemon's intelligence.
Intelligence varies throughout the series; with even members of the same species differing across depictions.
One of the games ways of implying intelligence in a species is to say it can understand human speech (See; Lapras, Lucario, Ninetales).
This is dissonant; undercutting the entire premise of the series, which is about giving orders to Pokémon, which would imply every Pokémon can understand human language, and thus, invalidate the previous claim.
We then can assume that every Pokemon is, at the least, as intelligent as a dog, being capable of understanding at least enough words to be able to understand its masters commands in a fight. Either that or they have unusually large language processing parts of the brain, but I digress.
When considering intelligent Pokemon, the first examples that come to mind are those whose minds exceed a humans: Alakazam, Slowking, Oranguru and Metagross are what immediately come to mind.
Dragonite is stated to have human level intelligence.
Ninetales, Lapras and Lucario are all noted for being "Highly intelligent" as previously noted. We will assume human intelligence, as discussed later.
Several others display traits which imply intelligence, but I will discuss them later when best relevant.
Reply with any notably smart Pokemon you can think of. I may have missed some.
