4chan rolled me a Bulbasaur for a starter, named it painful as this playthrough nicknaming theme will all be related to Pain, and all it's synonyms. Bulbasaur means if it doesn't die I'll be playing the gyms in easy mode, so that's great! I caught the typical early game Mons, minimal wild grinding to get Rattata and Nidoran(M) to decent fighting levels.
Brock was a breeze, Leech Seed makes Bulbasaur utterly ridiculous because of how bad the AI is in early games.
