Cutting out the sprites isn't difficult at all, since most of them have a white outline to distinguish them from their backgrounds.
Since TCG2 split the sprites into blocks to allow for higher concentrations of color, you have to get creative when adapting them to the two color limit for standard games. I'd say the hardest part is making edits to the original sprite to allow them to adapt to that.
Two examples of this from my original post were the Ivysaur and Ekans sprites (pic related). As you can see, the original sprites have room for general improvement as well.
