Gen 6 had its dex consist of 99% good Pokemon with only 1% being ugly, so my entire team consisted of gen 6 Pokemon, but I always had the option of using mons from other gens.
Exact same thing happened with gen 7 except the ratio of good to bad Pokemon isn't as stellar.
Gen 5 has barely enough passable looking Pokemon to even make a team of 6.
