Does it matter that much if a single evolution changes anyone's matter on an entire line? It has always happened and it always will. Heck, wasn't Froakie less popular than the other two back in the day? Primarina pretty much saved Popplio from being the most hated starter ever and even if I hated Primarina and loved Popplio, I couldn't be more happy about it. There's nothing wrong with it, it's an absolutely beautiful thing.
