>>48756547The game is Atelier Ryza 2, a very comfy JRPG focused on alchemy - the main point of the game is collecting resources and crafting everything, from consumables to weapons, balancing quality and effectiveness. It's a really damn old series, the first game was released 1 year after Pokemon Red/Green, and it gained quite a pedigree among genre enthusiasts. It's safe to say that there are no games with crafting systems as complex and involved as Atelier games. It's not the first thing I would recommend to a casual player (Atelier games are pretty grindy), it's just an example of great games made in circumstances similar to GameFreak.
If you want to collect monsters, your best bet is Shin Megami Tensei 5 and Persona 5. The former is focused on combat mechanics, while the latter has a much heavier focus on story and characters. Both are stellar JRPGs, well worth hundreds of hours you can sink into them, with tons of really cool creatures to collect. Megami Tensei games can be intimidating, but once it clicks with you, it will never let go.
