It would've been absolute kino with the grand finale of it all being a battle against the first game's protagonist, no one would be mad about "too many Pokemon", no one would be mad about "too many shitty designs", no one would be mad about content constantly getting cut from each title, no one would be mad at Masuda being senile, no one would be mad at Ohmori for his waifufaggotry and gameplay interruptions, and GameFreak could probably go on to make other franchises, be forced to learn from their rookie mistakes, and then either throw in the towel with the belief that Pokemon was a job enough well done or become a competent, beloved developer known for quality titles rather than titles that only sell due to brand recognition and brand loyalty.
