With Pokemon Bank being a thing, is there any reason to buy both X and Y? I would usually have one version be the main game I play while the other just stored dex fillers but that doesn't seem to be necessary anymore, and trading with yourself has been unnecessary since gen IV introduced the GTS.
Really the only benefit I can see is double event /distro pokemon and additional once-per-game pokemon.
