>>38519489I think it's a hard question. Pokemon allways been made for CHILDS. For them it's totally normal to continue to sell the licence as a child product priority instead of an adolescent-adult product.
Pokemon had a lot to offer but we can't do anything about the fact that the adult target of pokemon fans is and will ever be a tiny portion compared to the child target. To sum up, they would lost a gigantic ton of money if they start to do more adult targeted pokemon products.
I can't deny that like, idk, a mature anime or game would be mega kino, in a world were there is actual mature subjects and serious stuff but in the pokemon universe ect, but :
- it would not sell well
- adult pokemon fans are never agree wich eachother. Today most of the adult fanbase cry for more mature pokemon stuff and more adult-adapted pokemon products, but tomorrow they will cry that it's not enough and it's shit and before were better.
Look at Detective Pikachu.
- honestly beautifull (and I say this as a 3D animation worker)
- made by real pokemon fans who know the licence
- funny
- a bit of mature jokes
- soulfull
- could be a shitty adaptation like sonic and it's not
But on /vp/ it's like everyone say its shit. Why ? Nobody knows. Nobody knows what the adult pokemon fanbase actually wants.
So the real things I can yell at gamefreak are :
- their shitty communication
- they could remodelate the pokemon models, on a new engine, it's been 6 years, they made a beautifull work for Pokemon Ga-Ole in japan why the fucking fuck they can't make a single good texture on the Switch ?!...
That's my real issues with Gamefreak. The rest is subjective. We can't yell at gamefreak for doing child products, I prefer yell at them for being one of the most richest video game company in the world and not being able to improuve visualy their games over barely a decade.
